Born in , Nalinee attended the private Mount Hermon School in Darjeeling, India.
Representing the Kingdom
Her economic background and international experience made her the right woman to take the role of Thailand Trade Representative (TTR), a politically appointed position in the present Yingluck Shinawatra government.

Having worked for both the private and public sector, Dr Nalinee Taveesin noted that she is often taken as an assistant or a secretary because she's a woman and people generally think that a man should be in the top management position.
"Once you start to do what you have to do, you can overcome any doubts about a woman fulfilling a top management role," she said.
"And as the TTR, I think it doesn't make a difference whether one is a man or a woman as long as one has the capacity to do the work."
In this position since last September, Dr Nalinee acts as a special envoy of the Prime Minister and is responsible for integrating and coordinating international trade, investment and economic policies.
